1981 39′ CAL 39 MK III

Seattle, WA

US $75,000

This Cal 38 Mk III is the rare later version with an aft cabin and metal toe or snach rail, Lapworth design, built in Tampa, FL. William “Bill” Lapworth was perhaps the foremost West Coast Naval Architect in the post World War II period.  He designed many light displacement fiberglass race boats and is most famous for the big Cal 20 fleet and the Cal 40, the celebrated radical, ultra-light design of it’s day.  Designed 20 years later, the Cal 39 MK III with a narrow entry and fine stern is an effecient fast cruiser, with a slighty faster design hull speed than the classic Cal 40!

Description:  Fiberglass masthead sloop, with encapsulated ballast keel and spade rudder, single- spreader aluminum mast and boom, Pathfinder 50 Marine Diesel auxiliary propulsion. Interior is classic design: stairs down over engine-compartment, U-shaped galley to starboard with sink nearly on-centerline, refrigerated compartment in aft counter, newer Princess 2-burner LPG stove with oven, Technautic cold-plate refrigeration in top-opening compartment. Port-side, aft of nav-table is a separate stateroom with vanity sink and hanging-locker, a feature of the Mark III layout.. L-shaped settee to starboard ahead of the galley, and straight settee to port. Complete with teak lockers and shelves hullside, including one cabinet with leaded-glass doors. Head compartment to port with sink, wet shower and manual toilet. Hanging lockers with teak louvered doors opposite head. Forepeak has V-berth.  Note anchor and windlass on bow, good sails and spinnaker, solar, B&G Radar and Chartplotter plus davits on stern.  Great Electrical System. Check out the pics – hull shots are from a haul for storage May 2023.  What a good sailing impressive cruiser, discounted for a fast sale.  Come buy this special boat before someone else does.
